VHDL / FPGA Hardware Design Engineer

Contract Length 6-12 Months
Excellent Daily Rates Available

Design of digital electronic hardware and VHDL for hardware platform products.

Key Duties:

-Design of electronic hardware products, primarily safety-critical and safety-related digital and analogue hardware
-Life-cycle responsibility of hardware designs from specification through to manufacturing introduction
-Production of product documentation and manufacturing information
-The role is a senior position and candidates will have a number of years of relevant experience.

Essential Requirements:

-Minimum first degree in electronics or equivalent
-Experience in high speed digital and embedded microprocessor design
-Experienced in high quality VHDL written to formal processes
-Experience in working with PCB layout designers to achieve right-first-time designs
-Experience in designing to meet EMC requirements
-Good PC skills including use of MS Office tools
-Candidates should have strong VHDL design skills
-Experience of Lattice FPGAs
-Experience of Aldec ActiveHDL

Desirable Requirements:

-Understanding of the rigorous requirements of a safety-critical environment
-Experience in use of Mentor Graphics CAE capture for electronic design
-Experience in a high integrity industry Rail, Defence or Avionics

-Experience in signal integrity analysis for PCBs
-Experience with Fieldbuses such as MVB

Please note Candidates submitted so far have had reasonable electronics skills but were not strong enough in FPGA design.
